The Story of Khyenkong
Khyenkong Tharjay Manjughosha (Khyenkong) was founded in October 2018 by several founding members of the Tharjay association, following many years of engagement with Tibetan communities. Their goal was to create a dedicated structure to address the medical needs of Indian populations, particularly in the Bodhgaya region.
The creation of Khyenkong was encouraged by His Eminence Beru Khyentse Rinpoche, a leading figure of the Kagyu lineage.
Building on this foundation, the association developed its activities on the ground with the support of experienced volunteers. Their strong local knowledge made it possible to establish a solid medical program, adapted to the realities and needs of the communities we support.

Our Support Network
Our work relies on a network of partners in India, Europe, and France. They play a key role in the organization and success of our missions by providing local coordination, logistical support, medical staff, and financial assistance.

Karma Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo Public Charitable Trust – India
A locally registered organization under the Indian Act, committed to medical aid. Its secretary, Sonam Topchen, ensures on-site coordination and facilitates access to the villages where we operate.

Karmapa Health Care Project (KHCP) Germany
A non-profit organization based in Kiel. KHCP regularly supports Khyenkong through financial contributions and by deploying medical professionals during its annual missions to Bodhgaya.

Montagne du Bonheur
France
Founded in 2004 and active in the Indian Himalayas, this association provides Khyenkong with access to its network of doctors and healthcare assistants, strengthening the medical missions carried out in Bodhgaya.

A Dispensary to Support Field Operations
Between 2018 and 2021, a dedicated building was constructed in Bodhgaya to support medical missions. It includes a dispensary for patient consultations, storage space for medicines and equipment, and accommodation for volunteers during missions.
This facility serves as the daily operational base, where medical supplies are prepared, field travel is organized, and all on-the-ground activities are coordinated.
For the 2025-2026 winter season, Khyenkong will make its dispensary available to the Karmapa Health Care Project (KHCP) to support their medical activities in Bodhgaya. This temporary partnership will ensure continuous medical presence for local communities during that period.
Members of the Association
Khyenkong brings together committed members who oversee coordination, mission preparation, and liaison with volunteer teams in the field. Each year, they support the medical actions carried out in remote villages around Bodhgaya.
